One of the objectives of UNU &
GIST Joint Programme on Science and Technology for Sustainability
is to contribute to the strengthening of capacity building
in developing countries by providing postgraduates with
an opportunity to expand their practical knowledge and
skills on science and technology for environmental sustainability
through research training and academic courses.
The Internship Programme is offered twice per year and
each round has a period of stay of four months. Participating
interns will be assigned to the Department of Environmental
Science and Engineering (DESE) laboratory and receive
their research training and course work under the supervision
of the professor charging for the laboratory. During
the final week of the Programme, each participant shall
present the results of their research.

Applicants must be postgraduates
from developing country institutions. Research topics
should be clearly related to one of research areas of
faculties of DESE. |

Participating interns are provided
with their own desk within a dedicated room in IERC
and PCs with full Internet access.
Participating interns are funded for round trip airfare
(economy class) and visa fee (receipt required).
IERC provides a monthly stipend of 400,000 Korean won
covering dormitory rent (70,000 won) and living costs
and medical insurance is also provided.
Interns carry out their research in a DESE laboratory
and take two courses from DESE. During the final week
of the Programme, each intern do oral presentation with
the research results and submit final report.
Interns who successfully complete the Programme receive
an IERC Certificate of Completion at the closing ceremony.
Requirements include research result presentations and
regular class attendance as well as active participation
in the program. The grade record for courses is sent
to each intern.

GIST has dormitory facility (two
persons per room) and IERC arranges the registration
process. The dormitory is fully furnished and cooking
is available at the separated kitchen. Monthly usage
charges except telephone is 70,000 Korean won. |

Interns are selected twice a year
and starting date for Spring and Fall Intership Programme
is March 2 and September 1, respectively.
The deadline for applications for Spring and Fall Internship
is November 30 of previous year and May 31, respectively.

| Participating interns should get a D-4 visa when you
apply for a Korean visa. |

(including description of why

| 6. Certified copies of academic transcripts |
